Graduation Photo Collage: Four Years, Eleven Photos, One Sign for Whoever Paid Tuition

The family version (the graduate in the big slot, the years around it, the sign says Them) and the class version (the whole group, one photo per year). Free, five minutes, printed for the party.

The short version: a graduation photo collage is four years in eleven photos on one frame: the graduate in the big slot, ten moments around it, and a Do It For Them sign pointed at whoever paid the tuition. The generator is free, needs no account, and takes about five minutes. Print it at 5×7 the same day.

Graduation gifts have a problem: the graduate already has the diploma, and the parents already have the invoice. What neither of them has is the four years in one place. Eleven photos do that better than a speech, and they take less time to make.

Two versions of the same collage

There are two people you can make this for, and the difference is who is holding it at the party.

The family gift. The graduate goes in the big slot, the ten small ones hold the years, and the sign says Them. Them is the parents, the grandparents, the aunt who drove to every recital. The graduate makes it; the family keeps it. This is the one that ends up on the fridge.

The class version. The promo makes it for itself: eleven photos of the group, one per year and one per ritual. Nobody is in the big slot alone; the class is. The sign still says Them, and it means the same thing the original meme meant, which is a longer story we will not retell here.

Both use the same 11 slots and the same free download. Switching between Her, Him and Them is one tap inside the generator, so if the gift is for the graduate instead of from them, the sign changes without starting over.

Which photos go in a graduation collage

The big slot is the one everyone will look at first, so it is not the posed portrait with the diploma. It is the walk across the stage, the cap in the air, or the photo where they are laughing at something off-camera. Posed photos already exist in three copies; the laughing one exists once.

The ten small slots are a timeline, roughly in order:

  1. First day: the doorway photo, the too-big backpack, the dorm hallway.
  2. The room: the first dorm, the bunk bed, the poster that came down in week two.
  3. The group: the people from the first semester who lasted.
  4. The all-nighter: the desk at 3 a.m., the empty coffee cups, the library.
  5. The trip: spring break, the road trip, the one weekend that became a story.
  6. The game, the play, the recital, whatever the thing was.
  7. The job, the internship, the first badge with their name on it.
  8. The bad haircut era. Every four years has one.
  9. The family visit: the parents in the dorm, looking around.
  10. The last day: the empty room, the boxes, the walk out.

Small slots forgive blurry phone photos. The big slot does not, so give it the sharpest one you have. If you want the slot-by-slot version for any Them collage, that guide covers pets, teams and the whole family too.

The one for mom, specifically

A lot of graduation collages end up being for one parent. If that is the case, the sign says Her or Him, and the eleven slots change meaning: the graduate is still in the big one, but the ten small ones are the moments mom was there for. The drop-off, the phone call from the parking lot, the care package, the ceremony seat.

It is the same tool, so you can make the Them version for the family and the Her version for mom in ten minutes total. Nothing gets uploaded either way; the photos stay in the browser and the PNG goes straight to your downloads.

Printing it for the party, or for the grandparents

The free PNG is 980×700 pixels, which prints cleanly at 5×7 inches from any pharmacy or supermarket photo kiosk, usually the same day. That is the one you hand to the grandparents.

For the party wall, order the HD export at 2800×2000 and print 10×7 or 14×10. The collage is 7:5, so those sizes come out with zero cropping; an 8×10 order needs Fit mode or a mat. The print-size guide has the DPI math, and where to print covers kiosk versus lab versus home.

Ask for matte paper. The craft-paper frame in the template goes orange under auto-enhance on glossy stock.

The version that goes to the group chat

Before anything gets printed, the PNG goes to the class group chat, and that is fine: it is a normal image file, no watermark, and everyone can save it. The class version works better this way than as a print, because the print has one owner and the chat has thirty.

If the promo wants one physical copy for the party, print one 10×7, and let everyone else keep the file. If you want more occasions where eleven photos beat a store gift, the gift ideas list has ten more.

Questions people actually ask

What goes in a graduation photo collage?

The graduate in the big slot (the walk, the cap, or the one where they are laughing), then ten photos across the years: first day, the dorm, the group, the all-nighter, the trip, the last day. The sign says Them if it is for the parents, Her or Him if it is for the graduate.

Can the whole class make one collage?

Yes: eleven photos of the group, one per year and one per ritual. Make it free, send the PNG to the group chat, and print one 10×7 for the party.

How fast can I have it printed for the ceremony?

The free PNG prints at 5×7 the same day at any photo kiosk. If you want it framed on the wall for the party, the HD file at 10×7 or 14×10 needs one more day at a lab.
